Labour Candidate for Totteridge & Bowerdean
Originally from the North East of England, I have lived in Buckinghamshire for the last 27 years.
The early part of my career saw me working in senior marketing positions in international publishing for blue chip companies. I have then spent the last 20 years as a freelance consultant in marketing and business development for SME’s while bringing up my children.
I currently serve as a Co-Chair of a local Women in Business group, a non-profit network, supporting women in their business journey. I have previously been a volunteer trustee for local charities supporting unpaid carers in Bucks and Milton Keynes.
Coming from a working-class background and growing up in a council house, I understand the struggles faced by ordinary people. My upbringing has instilled in me a strong sense of social justice, equality of opportunity, and a commitment to improving the lives of those overlooked by the system—values that align with Labour’s principles of fairness and social responsibility.
My mother’s work as a civil servant in Child Benefit showed me the value of accessible support for families. My father, a skilled engineer in the North East shipyards, taught me the importance of hard work, dedication, and in securing workers’ rights. These experiences have shaped my belief in fair pay, community, and public service.
As a Labour councillor, I will ensure that local services meet the needs of all families, advocate for economic fairness, and push for well-funded public services and local investments. My commitment to public service, rooted in my working-class values, will drive me to ensure every voice is heard, and no one is left behind.
