Councillor for Booker, Cressex & Castlefield
Candidate for Castlefield & Oakridge
I have proudly called the ward of Oakridge and Castlefield my home for over 30 years. As a long-term resident, I have developed strong ties to the community, and my deep connection with the people I serve remains central to everything I do. Over the years, I have dedicated my time and efforts to improving the quality of life for residents across our vibrant and diverse ward.
In 2017, I had the honour of being elected as a county councillor, representing the ward of Booker, Cressex, and Castlefield. Since then, I have actively contributed to shaping policies and addressing key issues through my involvement in several key committees, including:
- Health and Adult Social Care Select Committee
- Children and Education Select Committee
- Transport, Environment and Climate Change Select Committee
- Audit and Governance Committee

These roles have given me the opportunity to influence vital areas such as healthcare, education, sustainability, and public governance, ensuring that the interests of our community are always a priority.
In 2021, I was re-elected alongside Councillor Karen Bates, and together, we make a dynamic and effective team. We have built a reputation for being approachable and deeply engaged with our residents, actively listening to their concerns and working tirelessly to address them. One of our proudest collaborative efforts has been the Castlefield Traffic Calming Measures, a project born out of intensive engagement with residents through Thames Valley Police’s community outreach initiative. By going door-to-door and gathering feedback, we identified key issues such as anti-social behaviour, speeding, and parking challenges. The resulting measures have significantly improved road safety in our area, earning widespread appreciation from the community.
In addition to large-scale initiatives, we also focus on smaller yet impactful community projects. Last year, Councillor Karen Bates spearheaded a bulb-planting initiative in our ward, and I was delighted to contribute to this meaningful effort. This project not only enhanced the visual appeal of our area but also reinforced our commitment to fostering a sense of pride and ownership among residents.
As a councillor, I remain deeply committed to being an active and visible presence in the new Oakridge and Castlefield ward. My passion lies in making a tangible difference in the lives of those I represent, and I strive to ensure that every resident’s voice is heard and valued. Working closely with residents and local organisations, I aim to build a stronger, safer, and more inclusive community for all.
Being a councillor is not just a role for me—it is a privilege and a deep commitment to the community I love. Together, I believe we can create a brighter future for Oakridge and Castlefield.
